…now for those of you in the U.S you’re probably well aware of girls scouts and their cookie selling.
Now, here’s the thing….if every other girl scout is selling cookies like you are, how can you outsell them?
Sure, you can go around the neighborhood, hassle all your family and relations, or set up a stall at the local mall, but so can everyone else.
But, what if you want to be top dog?
What if you want people coming to you, with cash in hand, rather than having to twist their arm to buy a box?
What do you do?
Simple. Do something no one else is doing, offer free entry into an amazing competition with each box of cookies bought.
That’s what a bright spark did a few years back to become the No.1 selling girl scout in the country.
Offering a paid holiday as incentive to buy, she sold over 20,000 boxes of cookies to customers that were happy to give her their money.
So, what can you learn from this?
1 – It’s a lot easier to sell to people who come to you, than it is knocking on doors.
2 – Even if you’re selling the same as everyone else you can still do something to make you stand out from the crowd.
For example…
– Create a monthly competition with an Amazon voucher as first prize.
– Give away a free training course.
– Give away a package of printed items featuring your book’s characters.
– A years supply of puzzle books.
– Money to a charity of the winner’s choosing.
– Heck, anything.
Just because you think you’re doing the same as everyone else, don’t let that thought make you think that you’re the same as everyone else, you’re not.
With a little twist, you can stand out from the crowd.
Take book trailers as an example.
You could use a video – and expect your reader to click the play button – or you could do something different, like this.
PS – Now go put on your thinking cap.
